All New Orleans Public Library Locations including City Archives & Special Collections will be closed on May 25 for Memorial Day.

From Robert E. Lee to Mama D

“Beginning in 2019, the New Orleans City Council Street Renaming Commission began the process of replacing the names of Confederates and white supremacists with those of New Orleans artists, activists, and innovators who made positive contributions to the city’s history.

A wealth of stories resulted from the nomination process, with more nominees than available streets. To share more of these stories with the public, the Midlo Center for New Orleans Studies at the University of New Orleans, in partnership with NOLA4Women and the City Archives & Special Collections at the New Orleans Public Library, created research guides, digital games, and TikToks using the resources of the New Orleans Public Library.”
