Books and Publications

The City Archives & Special Collections collects books and other publications relating to the history of New Orleans. Like all City Archives collections, the books are available for Library use only, are not available for Interlibrary Loan, and are contained in closed stacks. To see what items are available to view search the Library catalog below.

To limit your search to publications held in the Archives, use the search box below, and then you will be brought to a new page. On that new page just below the search bar will be a link for “More Search Options.” From there you can select specific collections in the lower left corner. Using this tool you can look exclusively at City Archives (City Documents), Louisiana Reference (a curated collection of local interest titles), or Louisiana State Documents.
