GenFest 2026

Sat. April 11 | Milne Rec Center | 10am-4pm

Thank you for another successful GenFest! The City Archives & Special Collections hosted our third annual GenFest in April at the NORDC Milne Rec Center. We brought together 40+ organizations, hosted 4 genealogy programs, and a panel discussion with professional genealogists for a full day of community collaboration, attracting 350+ attendees. This year, we went back to the basics of genealogy research, with a panel discussion and programs focusing on foundational research practices when starting your genealogy journey. Recordings for some programs will be available soon. Thank you to all participants, panelists, presenters, and attendees for making GenFest such a special event! Did you attend GenFest? Panel Discussion: Passing it On

This year we celebrate passing on the fruits of research to future generations, as well as  teaching them how to do it. Please enjoy the
four professional presenters covering topics of engaging younger generations in family history, untangling the mysteries of heirs’ property, what to expect when you research in a real archive, and a lightning round of genealogy research. We also invite you to listen to our panel of history-keepers moderated by Augusta Elmwood of the Louisiana Historical Society. We hope you enjoy this celebration of legacy, history and community.
