Naturalization Records Requests

Use the forms below to request a search for a naturalization record from our archives. Use the form on the left if you know when and where someone was naturalized and want a copy of that record. Use the form on the right if you are unsure if there is a naturalization record or not. Although we have indexing available through 1985, our latest naturalization records are from 1932. For more current records please contact USCIS.

Archives staff will search two indexes for naturalization records:

  • Index to Petitions and Declarations of Intention, 1811-1985 from the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana [New Orleans]
  • Index to Certificates of Naturalization Issued by Louisiana Courts, 1831-1906

These indexes have been digitized and are available at www.ancestry.com and at Ancestry Library Edition, accessible at all NOPL facilities.

Fee: $3 per name variant searched
$2 per naturalization record certified to be a copy from our holdings
$2 per Letter of No Record Found

City Archives can neither provide nor facilitate the notarization of archival records.

After submitting your form you will see a message confirming your submission. If you do not see that message, please review the required fields.
