Property Research Guide
City Archives staff created this guide to help you learn about the property resources available in the collection and how to use them for your research. The first edition of this guide was printed in 1976 and has undergone many editions finally becoming a digital document. The hard work of Wayne Everard and Irene Wainwright has made this possible.
To complete a detailed history of your property, begin with Step 1. If you are just looking for a few interesting details about your property, browse the collections below.
Researchers interested in properties located in the French Quarter should begin their search with the Historic New Orleans Collection’s Vieux Carre Survey.
