The Vieux Carré Commission is the regulatory body of the Vieux Carré and oversees zoning and exterior construction of French Quarter properties. Researchers interested in the history of French Quarter properties should begin by consulting the Vieux Carré Survey. The Survey provides detailed information (including the chain of title) for all properties in the French Quarter. The original survey is held by the Williams Research Center of the Historic New Orleans Collection.
