The Municipal Auditorium Commission was established to oversee the building and operations of the Municipal Auditorium when it opened in 1930. Photographs from the collection, primarily dating from the 1930s and 1960s, capture a wide range of programs, events, performances, and publicity images held at the venue. The images also document damage and later renovation caused by Hurricane Betsy in 1965. Over the years, the Auditorium hosted numerous concerts, professional sporting events, and Mardi Gras balls.
